ABSTRACT

The generation of conventional energy sources are contributing to around 65 % of installed capacity in India to fulfill the electricity demand. The limited conventional sources have motivated the researchers to find the electricity generation opportunities through non-conventional sources. The installed generation capacity through renewable sources in India is about 130 GW. With development of renewable systems for electricity generation, smart-grid comes into existence. Standalone and grid connected microgrids are going to be the future of electrical energy. One of the problems associated with the microgrid is the unreliability of power generation, when connected to small capacity renewable sources. Authors have proposed PV-battery-hydro based microgrid to improve the consistency of power supply. The technique is implemented in the MATLAB environment and the results are presented in this paper.
